I have read four of the Harry Starke novels, and I'm never disappointed (and will continue to read all of them). Blair Howard keeps you guessing until the end about "who done it." His stories move fast, and keep your attention. I have become invested in the characters and look forward to them in each book. My only thought, all be it a little late to mention this, would be to add a little more background information on the people who are regulars in the book. For example, a little background on Kate might be interesting. All that said, this is a very good author who gives you a good and entertaining story. Well worth your time and money to keep these stories (or other he may have) going.Product details

Just finished Checkmate. Another great book from Blair Howard. Found it hard to lay down. Once again I was playing the part of Harry Starke trying to figure who the killer(s) were. If you like books with suspense this is a must read!
I am invested in the Harry Starks character. I am intrigued from the beginning to end and am glad there are more in the series!
Good read . Hard to put down. Really enjoyed reading this book It eve had a few unexpected twist and a surprise ending.
Checkmate captivated me from the start. It became harder and harder to put down. Truly a great story line...looking forward to the next ones!
This is a clever and well detailed murder mystery full of twists and turns. Characters are believable and easily imagined. All 4 books have me hoping for more.
Just in time for spring break, another pager-turner from Howard. His latest effort checks all the boxes of a classic mystery novel. For golf lovers, much of the action even takes place on the golf course. Again, Harry Starke is confronted by a whole new collection of well-drawn, believable multi-faceted characters-suspects, and a mystery with many twists and turns. Great read, not to mention a wonderful value as priced ... highly recommend it.
I started reading the day I got it, read three chapters and went to bed. Next day, I completed the first half of the book; I knew the plot, or so I thought. I picked it up today and it had turned into a page turner. I couldn't put it down until I finished the book, and no, the plot twist got me again. Blair Howard has managed to do that each time.
It's a cross between a procedural police story and the private detective genre. Harry isn't quite that 'hard-boiled', but for that reason he comes across as more human.
I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
